As part of the TransSale project, we had the opportunity to participate in an important discussion titled “Construction Waste in Latvia: Bright Statistics and Harsh Reality”. The event focused on the significant role construction waste plays in Latvia and the European Union, with experts discussing both the positive aspects, such as the 91% recycling rate of construction waste in Latvia, and the challenges in the sector, including unaccounted-for waste and gray areas in the industry.
With construction waste making up over 30% of all waste in the European Union, the discussion delved into the actions needed to improve waste management practices. The conversation explored how a more circular approach to managing construction waste could benefit the environment, the state, the construction industry, and individuals.

The event, which took place on March 4th at the Latvian National Library, brought together key figures in the industry, including:
- Rudīte Vesere, Deputy State Secretary for Environmental Policy, Ministry of Climate and Energy
- Edijs Kupčs, Chairman of the Board, Latvian Builders Association
- Monta Berga, Executive Director, Latvian Road Builders Association
- Jānis Aizbalts, Chairman of the Board, Eco Baltia Vide
- Jegors Golubevs, Board Member, SCHWENK Latvia, Director of Transport Concrete and Mineral Materials Business Unit
The discussion was moderated by Evita Goša, European Climate Pact Ambassador.
We are proud to have contributed to this critical conversation, alongside other industry experts, in driving forward sustainable and circular practices for managing construction waste.
